Dr. Shan-Ju Chiang’s research is situated in the field of renewable energy, with a special focus on solid-state batteries and advance ceramics. Dr. Chiang sees her research as part of the broader effort in the sustainable energy to study the interaction linking human society, environment, and materials development in the contemporary world. She is committed to disrupting global trends in engineering with respect to women and men of color receiving engineering degrees, and to make North Central College a national model for equity and excellence in engineering!

Prof. John (Jun Liang) Zhou is Dean of the Faculty of Science and Engineering and Chair Professor of Sustainability Engineering and Environmental Engineering at the University of Nottingham Ningbo China. He is an internationally recognized environmental engineer with expertise in water and wastewater treatment, contaminated land remediation, waste-to-energy technologies, pollution control, and sustainable development. Before joining UNNC, he served as Director of the Centre for Green Technology and Head of the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Technology Sydney, Australia. He earned his PhD from the University of Manchester, UK. Prof. Zhou has published more than 350 peer-reviewed papers, with over 25,000 citations and an h-index is 107. He has been recognized as a Clarivate Highly Cited Researcher, an Elsevier Highly Cited Chinese Researcher, and is listed among Stanford University’s World’s Top 2% Scientists. He is also a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry and serves on the editorial boards of leading international journals.
